Biomechanical Assesment: Faulty Feet Function
Do you suffer from lower back pain, hip, knee pain or pains in your ankle and feet? Perhaps you have ball of the foot pain or developing painful bunions?
The custom made orthotic insoles that aim to reduce the symptoms resulting from biomechanical problems of arthritis, bunions, hammer toes, pains to the ball of the foot. The largest high risk patients include diabetes, neurological or vascular conditions, fallen arches ‘flat feet’ and active sports such as running/jogging, golf and long distance leisure walker’s.
Digital Gait Scan (Static and Dynamic)
Your foot is in contact with the ground for about 0.8 of a second when walking and about 0.25 of a second when running. After years of research and development by a Canadian Laboratory and Orthotic Group produced the state of the art technology of Gait Scan. The digital system records your timing sequences during gait as you walk or run, or stand across the pressure plate. This enables the clinician to have a clear picture of your foot biomechanics and determine whether your foot pain is a result of faulty biomechanics.
How does the Gait Scan Work?
Scans the Foot:
As you walk across a pressure plate thousands of sensors capture the distribution of the pressure that you walk with and place on your feet.
Maps Foot Pressure:
From your step, the computer displays 2D and 3D visual representations of the pressure of both your right and left foot individually. Helping the clinician and client better understand the way you are walking, any foot dysfunction due to a foot condition you may have such as diabetes, fallen arches, bunions, hammer toes, morton’s neuroma or even failure of foot to grow properly due to developing polio in childhood.
Prints a Report:
The information is summarised in a report that is printed for you and the clinician to see and better understand your gait. The report of findings will help evaluate your foot function and determine whether the pain or discomfort that you are experiencing is related to faulty foot function.
Determines the need for Orthotic Therapy:
The information from the report of both the standing (static) and walking (dynamic) scan will assist the clinician to determine the best orthotic therapy for your individual need.
Data is sent to the Lab:
The scan results are securely sent to our Orthotic Laboratory in Canada for interpretation and specialst feedback.
From there your custom made orthotics are manufactured. The cost is determined by the type of orthotic made, your lifestyle, type of shoe and medical foot condition. All custom made orthotics come with a 6 month warrantee. We also provide a repair service for all custom made orthotics.
The clinic offers both off–the-shelf and bespoke prescription, CUSTOM MADE orthotics. The GaitScan report result is discussed with the client providing a choice of orthotic’s, length, size, type of insole, top cover, additional modification and what type of shoe the orthotic is going is used in. Such as, walking boots, court shoes, running shoes or workman’s steel toe capped boots.
